Tracking Hurricane Colin
"Canadian Hurricane and Tropical Storm Information, Watches and Warnings" Dispatch August 8th, 2010 12:59 am
While Hurricane Colin poses no immediate threat to land areas in the Maritimes, analysts say it is difficult to determine the epicentre of the storm and prevailing winds make Colin a bit unpredictable.
Colin is currently SW of Bermuda and is expected to impact the marine areas of Newfoundland on Monday and Tuesday.
Here are a few excerpts from this morning's dispatch, showing that the scientists reporting to us from Environment Canada's Hurricane Center write with a light touch...
In the "TECHNICAL DISCUSSION FOR METEOROLOGISTS" segment, this morning's dispatch states that " PERHAPS COLIN MAY BECOMING A LITTLE BETTER ORGANIZED".
Technical jargon, indeed ... :-)
3. PUBLIC WEATHER IMPACTS AND WARNINGS SUMMARY

POSSIBLE WIND/WAVE IMPACTS OVER THE SOUTHEASTERN CANADIAN MARINE
DISTRICT MONDAY AND/OR TUESDAY. THERE REMAINS UNCERTAINTY IN THE

A. ANALYSIS
THE CENTRE OF COLIN REMAINS DIFFICULT TO PINPOINT PRECISELY ON
IR SATELLITE IMAGERY. THE STORM REMAINS IN A RELATIVELY LOW SHEAR
ENVIRONMENT AND OVER WARM WATERS..29 DEGREES CELSIUS.. THE LAST
FEW IR IMAGES HAVE SHOWN ANOTHER BURST OF CONVECTION JUST SOUTH AND
EAST OF THE CIRCULATION CENTRE.. THUS PERHAPS INDICATING COLIN MAY
BECOMING A LITTLE BETTER ORGANIZED.
