First East Coast Pirate Days Success!

The first East Coast Pirate Days drew several hundred people to Salmon River Bridge on September 16 - 19.

Most of the crowd got into the act with pirate gear and saying things like "Aaaargh, there be pirates on the Shore!" in their best salty voices on International Talk Like a Pirate Day.

Cannons were fired, treasures were hunted, and daggers were drawn during the settlement raiding party parade that signaled the launch of East Coast Pirate Days.

Organizers say this year, only a few communities like Moser River for example, picked up on the effort to draw more visitors to the Shore. Next year, they're hoping the idea will spread all the way to Canso.

To view a great photo album showing all the cool pirates and wenches enjoying their vittles and grog, check the website at: http://www.salmonriverhouse.com/album/index.htm
